West Hollywood Presbyterian Church is Wildly Inclusive. We believe God has created each of us as uniquely
individual persons, and that our differences enrich our life and ministry and are a great witness to what God's
Beleoved Community is like. We are intentionally inclusive by gender, race, ability, age, sexual orientation,
economic condition and theological background.. Our congregation has an intentional outreach to:rainbowflag

  • 20 - 30 year olds (the majority of our congregation is young and middle-aged adults, which is pretty reflective of the community in which we are located)
  • People of all races including Caucasian, African-American, Latin-American and Asian-American. (We are approximately 40% people of color, 60% Anglo.)
  • Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender persons. (Approximately 60% of the congregation is GLBT.)
  • Women. West Hollywood Presbyterian’s theology is perhaps the most pro-feminist in Lost Angeles. We use inclusive language and theology, as well as the biblical stories of women of faith, which are often not told in many churches, and embrace contemporary women’s spirituality and stories of faith.

West Hollywood Presbyterian Church is a unique community of faith that is part of the progressive€¯ expression of Christianity. This means we are a church in the process of transforming and changing first century language, metaphors and beliefs about ourselves and God into ones that are contemporary and inclusive of all people. This core value of our ministry requires us to rethink and clearly name both who God is and who we are as God’s people in this third millennium of Christianity.

textThe language we use is vitally important to the way we image God, ourselves, and the world community.  Therefore, we are committed to using language that is inclusive of race, gender, sexual orientation, and the full valuing of the human community. This means we must change traditional language to theologically inclusive language. We use language for God and for the entire human family that celebrates God as fully inclusive of women and men, young and old, rich and poor, people of all colors and races, all sexual orientations, all levels of ability, and language that is reflective of the world in which we live today.

Our use of inclusive language opens us to a whole new experience of who God is and who we are, as persons who are loved, included, and created in the Image of God.
