Sack Lunch Offering – August 2, 2009
Posted on : Jul 2nd, 2009 | By office | Category: Special Events
On Sunday, August 2 we will receive a Special Offering for our Sack Lunch program. Here are our facts and figures for the first half of the year (Jan 1-June 30:)
- We served 2,911 lunches during the first half of the year, an average of 112 lunches per week
- Last year in the same period we served an average of 60.
- For the first half of the year we have spent $4,403.
- That averages $734 a month.
- By the end of July we will have spent all of our Emergency Food and Shelter Program grant plus the additional $1,000 we received from the “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act .” (Federal Emergency Stimulus money)
- That means to continue providing the same number of lunches per month we need $3,675 in gifts.
One of the unique things about our Sack Lunch program is that the program is all volunteer. There are no paid employees or overhead costs. 100% of all gifts go directly to food. You can share that with friends who may wish to give. Checks should be made out to WHPC (West Hollywood Presbyterian Church) and marked in the memo: Sack Lunch Program.
